The Strategy Advisory Board of the Lightweighting Initiative is an important advisory body to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The board is composed of representatives from the lightweighting organisations of the German federal Laender, the IG Metall union, and various material and industry sectors.

The stakeholders involved provide crucial impetus for the further development of lightweighting and actively advance networking in this significant cross-sectional technology, while also driving dialogue around technology and the application of lightweighting, particularly with respect to digitalisation and sustainability in Germany.

Joint meetings are held twice a year to discuss current developments, trends, challenges, and solutions. Additionally, regular communication between the Strategy Advisory Board and the office of the Lightweighting Initiative ensures all parties are kept informed of all overarching and regional lightweighting activities.
